Criminal anarchists at work in Newington
Yesterday saw a criminal attack in Minto Street which reminds us of how close we are to anarchists in this area. Opposed to the Iraq war, a group has broken the windows of Nigel Griffiths' office and daubed anti-war slogans on the property. The action was accompanied by a press release issuing a threat of further action against Nigel Griffiths and Alistair Darling (whose offices were also damaged). Declaring "They are vulnerable and accountable, they have names and addresses", the group, using an obscenity in their name, rant and threaten further action.
The attack strikes at democracy and the rule of law and every effort should be made to have the perpetrators brought to justice. Anyone who saw anything suspicious overnight on Monday night/ Tuesday morning in the Minto Street/ West Mayfield area should contact the police on 0131-311 3131.
