Flyposting crackdown
Today the Evening News highlights a group of clubs in central Edinburgh who have combined to take united action against those responsible for violence and drugs. The initiative, backed by the police and various departments of the Council extends to flyposting. There has recently been a marked reduction in flyposting for clubs in the central area and moves are afoot to extend this to the Southside and Newington ward.
Current estimates suggest around 70% of flyposting is associated with gigs at clubs and venues which have now joined the 'Unight' scheme. Watch this space for more information in the coming weeks. The co-operation of the clubs is to be welcomed as they work with police and the council to rid us of their unsightly contribution to our area.
Now we shall see if the Scottish Court service is willing to play its part as a number of flyposters have been charged in the last 6 months.
