Grange Conservation Area extension

A proposal to extend the Grange Conservation area around the old Blackford Station site (Blackford Avenue/Mortonhall Road/Glenisla Gardens) is set to come before the Planning Committee (Thursday 15th May 2pm). The proposal has attracted both support and objections and, in light of the results of the consultation, planning officers have reversed their recommendation to the Committee, now advising the extension should not go ahead. The report can be found on the committee papers section of the Council website here.
Comment: Edinburgh already has 39 Conservation Areas and the trend of recent years to extend these, exhibits a desire to control development beyond what is necessary to conserve what needs conserving. The revised recommendation is welcome.
