Straiton Park & Ride opens 5th Oct

Although not in Southside & Newington ward the new park and ride at Straiton, scheduled for opening on Sunday 5th October, is expected to have some impact on travellers entering from the south side of the city. One of Edinburgh's glass ceilings (preventing further development and improved quality of life) is its inadequate transport infrastructure. Although we now have five park and rides, Straiton will be the 6th, it is an indictment of previous transport policy that they have come so late. The park and ride facilities will not have a big impact on traffic congestion but they are an essential and sensible component part of developing a better infrastructure to get people into and out of town more efficiently.
