Student living and green economics

The Journal is Edinburgh's student online newspaper.    Here is a student article about the reality of finance and 'organic green'.  It does make the assumption (wrongly in my view) that the debate is economy against 'ethical'.  Of course, often the ethical course of action in any area of life involves a more costly option.  But there is nothing intrinsically ethical about spending double on your food bill.  There has to be a calculation which takes into account what the money which could have been saved by buying at a supermarket might have otherwise been used to buy - as well as the quality, convenience and sourcing questions.   Good article.
