Edinburgh Council by-election result

Labour retained the fourth seat in Forth ward yesterday.

On a turnout of 32% (May 2007: 53%) the first preference results were (May 2007 in brackets):
Labour (Cammy Day) 2013 30% (30%)
SNP (George Gordon) 1841 27% (24%)
Conservative (Iain McGill) 1180 17% (21%)
LibDem (Sanne Dijkstra-Downie) 985 14% (19%)
Green (Kate Joester) 341 5% (6%%)
Ind (John Loughton) 297 4%
Solidarity (Willie Black) 80 1%
SSP (Robert Richard) 53 <1%
Ind (James MacLean) 26 <1%

The result is no-change in the balance of the parties with the ruling LibDem-SNP coalition on a knife edge with exactly half of the 58 seats.
