Community thanks to post office couple

This afternoon over a hundred people turned out at the German Speaking Church in Chalmers Crescent to thank Graham Smalley and his wife Jean for their service to the local community. Graham and Jean have run the Warrender Park Road post office for over 11 years with unfailing courtesy patience and commitment and, amazingly, they provided post office opening times probably longer than any other post office in Edinburgh. The post office was open for 53 hours per week - including to 7:30pm on Saturdays. Speeches were short and moving - highlighting an ordinary couple who are local heroes. Absolutely thank you, Graham and Jean. The post office has been required to close as part of the government closure programme.
