Marchhall HMO bid withdrawn

The controversial application to turn Hotel Ceilidh-Donia in Marchhall Crescent into a hostel for the homeless was dramatically withdrawn at the Committee today. This newsblog reported in December the details of how it was planned to provide thirty spaces for short term homeless.

Today the applicant acknowledged that he had underestimated the concerns of neighbours and, in particular the possible effect on the Daybreak House home in the same street. He withdrew the application after hearing the views of local residents.
