Edinburgh University Settlement collapses

Roxy Art House
The University Settlement charity was subject of a bankruptcy order at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week.  The order, which was granted after its outgoings exceeded its income by £300,000 in the last few years, means many of its varied operations will stop forthwith.

The Edinburgh University Settlement has its main office in Potterrow (5/1 Bristo Square).

It recently purchased the Lady Glenorchy Church, now operated as The Roxy Art House in Roxburgh Place.  It is not clear how the bankruptcy order will affect activities at The Roxy.

Founded in 1905, the University Settlement is an independent social action charity with close links to Edinburgh University. More information on the current difficulties can be found at the BBC and Evening News.
