Africa links

Nicholas Hitimana (right)
Today Bobby and Rhona Hogg are featured in the Evening News after their time spent with Voluntary Service Overseas in Uganda.  Their home is in the Mayfield Road area of the ward.

The article reports their work along with that of other volunteers in Rwanda (Deborah Livingstone) and Ivory Coast (Fiona Gilmore).  Details here

Meanwhile, Nicholas Hitimana is currently on a visit to the ward from Rwanda.  Nicholas will be remembered by some residents of Rankin Drive where he and his family made their home after fleeing from the genocide Rwanda in 1994.  Nicholas gained his PHd and Masters at Edinburgh University (King's Buildings) and then returned to Rwanda where he is putting his expertise to good use in many projects, including one working with widows and orphans to produce high quality essential oils.  He is a key part of a Scotland Rwanda link known as the Together Partnership.
