Sylvan House

Sylvan House, tucked away in Sylvan Place is a well hidden secret worth a bit more attention. 

It began as 'William's Hut' around 1740 and now has a plaque (1991) noting the some time residence there of Joseph Black (1728-1799) , Professor of Chemistry at Edinburgh University, whose town house was 58 Nicolson Street.
