More housebreakings in Grange

Yet more break ins in the Grange area!

Recent targets over last week-end have focused on breaking into houses for keys in order to steal cars from the driveway.

I understand a suspect has been arrested in connection with the spate with the possibility of further arrests.

But it does raise the question of a pattern where the Grange and Newington area is being targeted by criminals.

A check of the Lothian and Borders Police web site shows there have been 95 reported break ins or attempted break ins from January to April this year. (The figures are for the whole ward - but note those shown on the website for May appear to be in error and cannot be relied upon.)   I know from speaking to people that the spate has continued unabated.  There has been a significant upswing compared to the comparable periods in 2011.

I've been in touch with local police several times to ensure an escalation of response.
