The growth of Edinburgh University (1)

I understand from Sir Timothy O'Shea, principal of Edinburgh University that the current number of staff is around 11,000 and the current number of students is 31,000.  That is a huge contribution to the life and economy of the city. 

Each of those figures is up 1,000 over the figures he gave to me a couple of years ago.  There are two new student residences soon to come on stream.  The first is the old Deaconess Hospital (then NHS Lothian HQ).  The second is in Holyrood Road.

I'll post later about increases in research funding.
