Silver for Royal Blind graduate

Libby Clegg in action
Two former pupils of the Royal Blind School in Craigmillar Park have won medals in the Paralympics.

Libby Clegg won silver in the 100m T12 sprint with a European record of 12.13.

Her younger brother James Clegg won bronze in the in the 100m butterfly.

He thanked his sister for convincing him to shun the oversize headphones that have become de rigeur in elite swimming, choosing instead to soak up the noise generated by the crowd:
“She said, 'Listen to the crowd and they will carry you away',” said James. “I was planning to just put headphones on to come out, but she said no. It is brilliant to be competing at the same Games as my sister.”
