Superfast on track

Superfast broadband  for parts of the ward, including some open spaces such as the Meadows, have moved a step nearer with the announcement that Edinburgh has been awarded £10.7m from the UK Government Urban Broadband fund.

I reported on the award of £8m of this amount earlier in the year, and this has now been topped up to £10.7m following a more detailed bid by Edinburgh Council.

Along with some local upgrades in BT equipment, a separate project (see here), this is good news for businesses, residents and users of open spaces where free broadband will be available over a wider area.
