Waste collection update

From what I can see the number of missed collections has reduced slightly in the last week - but there are still very significant gaps in the service.  For example, I have yet more reports of collections missed in blocks of flats - such as old people's homes - and the frustration (and smell) for managers and residents is very considerable as they try and get the service to rectify these gaps.

There are also other gaps throughout the city as identified on the Council's waste collection disruption page showed on Friday:
  • Food waste collections in Buckstone, Comiston, Pentland, Craigmount, Stuart, Ratho, Gogar, and areas surrounding the airport.
  • Chute fed bins in Constitution Street, Restalrig, Deanhaugh, Essendean areas.
  • Communal and trade waste bins in Merchiston, Bruntsfield, Salamander Street, Meadowbank, Portobello, Telford, Bonnington, and The Shore area. We will have staff working on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 to deal with the extra waste left beside communal bins.
  • Meanwhile, my own household green bin was not collected for the third consecutive fortnight.  The first due collection did not take place.  The second fortnight, it was three days later than indicated.  Last week the overrun was down to two days.  That, I suppose, is improvement!
