Royal Blind School up for sale

A long standing Newington institution is up for sale.

The Royal Blind School is merging its two campuses at Canaan Lane leaving the premises at Craigmillar Park available from Autumn 2014.

Established in 1835 by James Gall, father of the famous Edinburgh map maker and churchman of the same name, the building has been a centre piece for work for blind and people with other disabilities from all over Scotland and beyond.

The press release from the Royal Blind School is here.

Note: See the comments in this post for a link with James Gall's great, great, great, great granddaughter Evelyn Inglis.
