Cycle Route consultation

An improved cycle route is proposed between the Innocent Tunnel and the Meadows.

The proposals which have been drawn up will improve some crossings for all eg in South Clerk Street and create a better flow for cycles travelling the route.

The plans can be found here.  I will link to the details on the Council website here.  Meanwhile here is a link to more details.

Local premises have been leafleted and there is now a public consultation.  If you have views be sure to write in.  I'll put up more details when they are loaded onto the Council website.

There will be an exhibition of the proposals between 5:30pm and 8:30pm on Tuesday 26th November at the Southside Community Centre in Nicolson Street.

These proposals are very, very poor. What a lack of ambition this council has. These plans are nothing more than allowing cycling on the pavement. This will do nothing for mainstream cyclists and just encourages general pavement cycling.

This would never be built in the Netherlands. Why are we still wasting good money on 1960s style pavement cycling. Have no lessons been learnt?
