Museum open more often

Earlier this year I wrote to the Chief Executive of National Museums of Scotland asking if he could consider longer opening hours.

There has been a considerable extension of activities at the Chambers Street Museum and visitor numbers have increased dramatically since the £37m refurbishment was completed.  Nonetheless, with millions of visitors to the city during the year, and a growing population in the city, it seems a shame that the Museum is only open between 10am and 5pm.  Many visitors and residents will want to visit after 5pm.

The response to my suggestion was that a number of evening events are being trialled.

On Thursday 21st October there will be an open evening between 6 and 8pm.  See here for details.

We shall see what it leads to.
