At a public meeting in the City Chambers on Monday 28th April, investigative journalist Donna Laframboise will tell the remarkable story of her enquiries into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
How Robust are the IPCC Reports?
In 2013 the first part of the Fifth IPCC Report (AR5) was published. Earlier this year the Working Group 2 report on climate change impacts was published and this month sees the publication of the Working Group 3 section on mitigation.
A wide area of public policy in many countries and at many levels, (including Edinburgh Council) has been influenced by the reports of the IPCC.
Donna Laframboise is a Canadian journalist whose investigations of the 2007 IPCC Assessment Report (AR4) revealed that all was not as claimed. In one example, she found that over 30% of the citations were from non peer-reviewed literature, contrary to assertions by IPCC .
Having just arrived from Germany, where the latest IPCC report was launched, Donna Laframboise will speak in Edinburgh about her research into the IPCC and its procedures. There will be opportunity for discussion at the meeting which starts at 7:30pm. All welcome.
