Phillipines Relief Appeal Update

On the 8th November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines, resulting in the death of 6,000 and displacement of 4 million people. Since the disaster Edinburgh Disaster Response Committee (EDRC), has taken action. The EDRC includes both Edinburgh City Council and Mercy Corps Scotland, which has a base in Sciennes. With the help of the £86,000 raised across Edinburgh, Mercy Corps have provided 18,000 survivors with food and essential items. In addition to this, they have met critical water, sanitation and hygiene needs of 3,000-4,000 typhoon survivors. The Edinburgh money has been raised via bucket collections and organised events in Edinburgh. Mercy Corps want to thank those in the city who have contributed.
