Homebase student application refused

My motion to accept the recommendation of planning officers to refuse the Homebase application was approved by 10 votes to 5 this afternoon at the Development Management Committee.

There was much debate, often on technical matters such as whether the data we have about current concentrations is accurate, but also covering what a balanced community looks like, support for the University as a key element in the attractiveness of the city, the question of adjacency- and much more.

As with the Lutton Court application a year or so ago, there may well be an appeal by the applicant.

Other student planning news to follow.
