Sciennes Primary: School streets proposal

Restrictions are proposed on vehicle movements in streets close to school entrances at the beginning and end of the school day.  The trial at six schools includes Sciennes.

The proposals will be put out for public comment in a few weeks but here is a glimpse of what is being considered:
"Any vehicle parked within a School Street area when the prohibitions come in to effect will require to remain parked until after the prohibition period has finished.

These prohibitions will not apply to residents or businesses within the School Street area and they will be provided with a permit to allow access/egress. The prohibitions will also not apply to vehicles displaying a disabled badge, emergency vehicles, vehicles being used for works on the road and certain school transport vehicles."
The designated streets for Sciennes are:
  • Sciennes Road between Sylvan Place and Tantallon Place
  • Livingston Place (whole street)
The restrictions are proposed to be in force during the following times:
  • 08:35 to 09:00 and 14:40 to 15:30 Mondays to Thursdays inclusive and
    08:35 to 09:00 and 11:55 to 12:20 Fridays
There will be signs with flashing lights during the period of restrictions.

I would be interested in any comments at this stage - though there will be formal opportunity for  submission of comments in a few weeks time.
