After enquiries from a number of constituents I think it will be helpful to make sure some of the details and issues considered are widely shared.
There is a new advertising contract between the Council and advertising company JCDecaux. You can see some of the details of the contract here on the JCDecaux website. This involves the company upgrading shelters and, of course putting up their advertising. Certainly many of our bus stops are looking in a poor condition and in many cases the upgrade is much needed.
Pretty well all the shelters with advertising on them are now the responsibility of JCDecaux though there remain many others which are installed/maintained by Edinburgh Council.
A number of constituents have observed that some of the new shelters, currently being installed, are facing the wrong way (i.e facing onto the roadway giving no spray protection for waiting passengers) or do not have sides to offer wind/rain protection.
I'll deal with the various issues later today in another post.
