Parking problems loom - now have your say

The Labour/SNP administration are pushing ahead with proposals to impose more parking restrictions in central areas of Edinburgh.  Now is your chance to give your views.  Here is the map of the proposal areas.

The proposals are to extend parking restrictions to Sundays from 8:30am to 6:30pm and perhaps on to 9:30pm.  In addition there are proposals to extend restrictions in some areas covered by Monday to Friday controls to include Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 6:30pm or possibly even later to 9:30pm.

This will affect both local residents and people travelling into town to church or to shop or to visit friends/relatives.   Certainly I appreciate there may be grounds for controls in certain limited areas on Sunday afternoons when the streets in the centre of town can be heavily congested  as can some other areas not presently controlled on Saturdays.  But the proposals are a step too far.  Do look at the link to the map above to see how you might be affected.

The good news is that there is an online survey which you can complete to give your views before any final decision is taken.  The consultation closes on 31st October.  Do take the chance to make your views known.

There are more documents and background on this page of the Council web site.

I'm getting quite a lot of mail on this.
