Best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2018

The end of 2017 is seems an appropriate time to reflect on 11 years of blogging in which  I jot down in short posts matters which will be of interest to some in the Ward.  This is a niche blog related almost exclusively to events happening in Edinburgh's Southside & Newington ward.  Generally I avoid political or partisan comment - this is a service for all constituents.

I note that over the last 11 years there have been 3,820 posts - just short of an average of one every day.

They provide a searchable record of local events and issues - either use the search box - top left of the blog or above my picture on the right - or just google my name and the subject in which you are interested.

Thank you for those who have given me the opportunity of representing this ward over the last (almost) 11 years.  It is an immense privilege.  It is also a demanding and full time job - it is always difficult to keep up with the emails, committees, events, meetings with constituents.  If I have disappointed you or not lived up to expectations, please accept my apologies.  Thank you to those who have supported me and encouraged me.

My thanks go also to Sarah in the office who has helped handle correspondence and case work (and Irene before her). Often they will answer your calls or emails.  (I don't want you to think I have two secretaries.  In reality, Sarah has six councillors to look after - and Irene has another six.)

Finally, about the ward.

  • Here is a link to the ward map which this blog covers
  • there are over 22,000 registered electors in the ward which means the total resident population will be around 32,000 (including children, non registered people and those not eligible to vote
Happy New Year
