Meadows summer Circus Hub

There is usually some interest in the main event in the Meadows during the festival period.

Along with other competitive tenders for the use of sites in some parks, the Meadows tender for the use of the site just east of Middle Meadow Walk  in 2017 has been completed this week.  The contract has been awarded to Underbelly - who have been on the site in recent years

The income to the city for this concession is just over £48,000 plus a 1% gainshare of all revenue generated above a £250k threshold.  Although I don't know the exact dates.  The contract is for 3 years.

The proposed event will be called Circus Hub - a dedicated event for contemporary circus.  The event will contain two covered and ticketed venues and each will host between five and six shows per day.

The maximum period allowed for the event is 23 days with 3 days set up and 3 days take down.  A maximum additional four days for set up and take down are permitted within the parameters - though these days are paid for in the contract at an enhanced rate.  The parameters were agreed at the Council Transport and Environment Committee last autumn - which can be found here.

As in previous years there will be discounted tickets for local people.

Just keeping you informed.
